Galaxy fires coach Guillermo Barros Schelotto
The Galaxy announced that Guillermo Barros Schelotto has been relieved of his duties.
The news comes as the Galaxy sits in last place in the Western Conference with three games remaining after Wednesday’s 5-2 loss to the Portland Timbers.
Assistant coaches Gustavo Barros Schelotto, Ariel Pereyra, goalkeeping coach Juan Jose Romero and performance coach Javier Valdecantos were also let go.
Dominic Kinnear, who served as interim coach when the club fired Sigi Schmid in 2018, will resume that role for the remainder of the regular season.
Schelotto came to the Galaxy for the 2019 season after coaching at Boca Juniors. The Galaxy qualified for the MLS playoffs, but this season is on the verge of missing out for the third time in the past four years.
At the time of his hiring in January 2019, Schelotto and the Galaxy had agreed on a three-year contract. He has one year remaining on the deal.
