US seeks to forfeit Iranian missiles and oil seized in Persian Gulf
BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:40 P.M.) – The U.S. Department of Justice released a statement on Thursday that said it has filed a civil complaint regarding shipments of Iranian missiles that the U.S. Navy seized from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps in the Arabian Sea.
John Demers, Assistant Attorney General for the National Security Division, said that the complaint relates to complex plans prepared by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard to ship weapons to Yemen and fuel to Venezuela secretly, adding that these two countries pose major threats to the security and stability of their region, according to the Department of Justice’s website.
