Calum and Jacques start their apprenticeship
Today Calum Biggar and Jacques Heraghty started their Modern Apprenticeship.
The Modern Apprentice scheme, which takes two years to complete, is co-funded by Skills Development Scotland and The Scottish Government. The course is set at Advanced Higher level and will offer a pathway to university at the end of the course.
Patrick Hart, Director Skills for Scotland (the training provider) commented: “The boys will get recogition for the vocational work being undertaken at the club with their coaches and gives them recognition through the Scottish Qualification Authority (S.Q.A.). The ability to offer the course shows the high levels of professionalism being maintained by Queen’s Park.”
Charlie King, who as well as being the Under 18s head coach at Queen’s Park is an assessior for the scheme with the S.Q.A, commented: “The players will learn different aspects of the game like tactical knowledge, physical preparation, nutrition and finance. They will have learning session every two week with me but will be expected to undertake a self-study programme”.
Graeme Shields, Director Queen’s Park commented “This is our first venture into Modern Apprenticeships and now that Calum and Jacques are on the course we hope to add to these numbers in the near future”.
