Piers Morgan says ousted Teen Vogue editor Alexi McCammond was ‘burned at the woke bonfire’ after ‘racist’ tweets
OUSTED Piers Morgan says he and Teen Vogue editor-to-be Alexi McCammond were both “burned at the woke bonfire” due to what he calls a dangerous cancel culture.
The controversial host, who similarly was forced to leave his emcee position at Good Morning Britain following his contentious remarks about Meghan Markle, said McCammond’s “career’s been completely trashed, burnt of the woke bonfire.”
Morgan made the remarks while joining another problematic host, Tucker Carlson, on his show Tucker Carlson Today. The British newsperson said he felt sorry for McCammond for being a victim of cancel culture.
“It’s a real thing,” he said of cancel culture. “This woke mob wants to cancel people who do not follow the narrative. And it’s gotten increasingly dangerous.”
“I look at that poor young journalist who got fired at Teen Vogue before she even started,” he said in reference to McCammond. “And I ask myself what about the other members of that editorial team?”
“Should we go back to their tweets when they were 16, 17, and see what was lurking there?” Morgan continued. “But this young woman’s career’s been completely trashed, burnt of the woke bonfire because she was not allowed to be contrite.”
“She was not allowed to express a sincere apology for stuff she spouted when she was a kid. It’s really ridiculous.”
McCammond was fired before she stepped foot into Conde Nast offices as Teen Vogue’s new editor-in-chief after her tweets from when she was a teen resurfaced following her hiring.
McCammond, now 27, made a series of anti-Asian tweets over a decade ago as a 17-year-old, saying she was “outdone by Asian” among other tweets.
In an apology note after announcing she would step down from the role, McCammond wrote: “I should not have tweeted what I did and I have taken full responsibility for that.”
Morgan was on Carlson’s show discussing his own ouster from the British morning show last month after over 41,000 complaints were filed to the show’s network calling for his exit.
After Carlson spoke about the US’s First Amendment coming from the UK, Morgan went on a tirade against the illusion of free speech in both countries.
“The constitutional right to have an opinion… and that opinion can be that you don’t believe somebody,” he started, “this is not why our countries went to war with fascist groups like the Nazis.”
“You either believe something that is untrue,” he went on, saying that it was “the purest personification of fascism.”
Morgan ended, calling it “this woke fascism.”

Earlier in the broadcast, Morgan fired back at CNN host Don Lemon, who called Morgan’s comments towards the Duchess an “act of racism.”
“I’ve seen Don Lemon at CNN – the guy who sits in my old office, who I thought was a friend – actually say on his show that I’d committed an act of racism,” Morgan said on Carlson’s show.
