More Assassin's Creed New Game Titles Ubisoft Probably Won't Use
There are a lot of rumors about the setting and title of the next Assassin's Creed game from Ubisoft, but it is doubtful the company will surprise players by picking one of the fictional titles listed below. Assassin's Creed games have had a variety of different title formats for sequels in the past, and right now it is currently unclear whether the developers will stick to the traditional subtitle format established by Black Flag and Assassin's Creed Unity for whatever game is coming next in the Assassin's Creed franchise or whether it will jump back to numerical titles with an Assassin's Creed 5.
Despite this ambiguity, and given that Ubisoft has stuck with subtitles for a large portion of Assassin's Creed's recent releases, it's likely that the new Assassin's Creed game, whether it is released in 2021 (or, like many rumors suggest, 2022) will follow the same pattern. Since any given Assassin's Creed game's subtitle is usually related to the plot or the setting of the entry in some way, this allows for a lot of options.
From an Assassin's Creed game set in Feudal Japan to one that spans multiple timelines and locations, the rumors for the location of Assassin's Creed's next entry have been all over the place. One of the great things (at least from a development and publishing standpoint) about the Assassin's Creed franchise is how easily creators can fit the story into any given point in history - and naturally, that results in a lot of options for potential sequel titles.

With the most recent trilogy of Assassin's Creed games, Ubisoft has shown a commitment to moving the series into a more RPG-esque type of genre, which has proven to be a mixed bag for long-time fans of the franchise. Things like Assassin's Creed Origins removing the one-hit-kill aspect of the hidden blade weren't changes that were received with open arms, but Assassin's Creed Valhalla's focus on settlements (a long-time neglected part of the franchise going back to Assassin's Creed 2) was enjoyed by most. Whatever form the new Assassin's Creed game takes in 2021 (or 2022), however, it likely won't be called any of the names mentioned above.
