Conor McGregor vows to return to old training regime with NO rest days for UFC 264 trilogy with Dustin Poirier
CONOR MCGREGOR plans to return to his old training regime ahead of his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier – vowing not to take any days off.
The Notorious will meet his old featherweight rival for a third time on July 10 in the main event of UFC 264, the promotion’s eighth pay-per-view event of the year.
McGregor, 32, will bid to avenge the brutal second-round KO defeat he suffered to the former interim lightweight champion in January.
And he plans to prepare for their series decider by training every day.
When reflecting on the eighth anniversary of the weigh-in for his UFC debut, he tweeted: “My UFC debut I found out 9 weeks out.
“I took a week to get right from not training/partying, and then 8 weeks out I moved to my sisters apt which was close to the gym.
“I woke up, trained, walked back to [the] apartment, ate my meals and rested, trained again, back to apt, sleep, repeat.
“Double skills work. I also didn’t take rest days unless I absolutely had to.

“Not one. Not even a Sunday. I will take this approach again for my comeback fight.
“I didn’t become UFC champ champ with this method but I did become UFC 145 champion.
“Also the Cage Warriors champ champ.”
McGregor, the UFC’s first simultaneous two-weight world champion, has vowed to make adjustments from his rematch with Poirier.
Last weekend, he wrote on Twitter and Instagram: “The fight is booked!
“July 10th you’re gonna see what the Mac is about. Adjust and f**king destroy.”
Fan favourite Poirer is expecting the Irishman to adapt to his kick-heavy game plan, telling UFC commentator Joe Rogan: “It’s fighting, man.
“I don’t think you ever really have [someone’s number].
“He’ll make adjustments and it’ll be a completely different fight.

“Like the first one and the second was different, the third one is gonna be different as well.
“I’m gonna make adjustments as well.
“I’ve gotta switch it up, keep things fresh and keep him guessing.”
A venue for the third instalment of McGregor vs Poirier has yet to be announced, although the UFC are hoping to host the fight in front of a packed crowd at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
