No Man’s Sky: How to Use The New Target Sweep Mode
No Man's Sky is finally turning into the game that was promised to players five years ago. The game has created an open world, space exploration that is different from what previous games have done. There are a plethora of planets, galaxies, and universes to explore. Players are encouraged to work with others to complete missions, but that honestly isn't necessary. Players are free to explore the universe on their own and tackle missions that will delight them.
With the game's latest update, players are now able to complete Expeditions. These new missions will encourage players to explore the vastness of space, see new planets, and enjoy new worlds. One of the ways these missions work to do that is by providing a new way to explore: Target Sweep Mode. This latest mode is a bit intuitive, but there can be some hang ups for players who are new. Those looking to figure out how the new Target Sweep Mode works need not look any further!
The new Target Sweep Mode is a way for No Man's Sky players to explore the universe. Players will no longer have just a single point to follow on their map. Rather, players will be encouraged to explore the surrounding areas in order to find target locations. Accessing the Analysis Visor will show two different modes available to players. Players will need to utilize their own surveying techniques to get the Target Sweep Mode just right. Use some instincts and follow the visor to find the next mission!
To start Target Sweep Mode, simply hit right on the D-pad. Players will notice that once open, there is a window within the visor. Additionally, there are arrows to the right and left of the visor's box. When hunting down missions, the sides of the box will glow. This indicates the direction the player should be searching. Move the visor in the appropriate direction until the corners of the Target Sweep Mode box light up. When the dots in the four corners light up, this means that the player has locked onto the target location. Head that direction to find the player's target.
Although this system seems straightforward, there can be a few risks when using it. For example, sometimes the box indicated is a larger space than players anticipate. Previously, players were just able to lock onto a single target and find their way. Now, players have to investigate possibly larger areas in order to find what they're looking for. Although it can be a bit of a pain to do, the end result is that players are more acquainted with the area. Hello Games want to encourage players to explore space rather than run to a single destination and back. Be sure to take time and really search areas. The game holds many secrets and being an almost unlimited universe, players never know what they could find next!
