Memphis Grizzlies vs. Miami Heat Predictions and Picks
There must be something about these two teams getting together to play in Miami because the total has gone over in each of their last six meetings. I think we have a good chance that occurs again on Tuesday night and a big reason for that has to do with both teams’ three-point shooting.
Memphis has been feeling it from beyond the arc as their three-point field goal percentage (42.1%) over the last three games shows almost a seven percent increase from their season average (35.3%). And this isn’t to say that their three-point percentage went up because they’re taking fewer shots. Quite the contrary, because they’re actually attempting slightly more shots (31.7) during this span than their season average (30.3).
And with Miami averaging 12.6 three-pointers per game this season, both teams should have plenty of opportunities to score from long range, considering both are in the bottom third of opponent three-point field goals. Memphis’s opponents are averaging 13 per game, while Miami allows 14.6 three-pointers per game.
Both teams have also played with greater efficiency of late.
Over Memphis’s last three games, they’re scoring 1.128 points per possession compared to their season average at 1.075, while Miami is scoring 1.098 points per possession compared to 1.056 during the season.
Put it all together, and I like this game to finish over the total tonight.
The Pick: Over 217.5
