Can’t Say We’re A Fluke Now – West Ham Boss David Moyes
The Hammers quickly opened up a three-goal lead at Molineux with Jesse Lingard, Pablo Fornals and Jarrod Bowen finding the back of the net. Wolves hit back with two goals of their own, but were unable to complete the comeback as West Ham held on to grab all three points.
Unlike the game against Arsenal before the international break where the Hammers let their lead slip to allow the Gunners to claim a 3-3 draw, West Ham held on to their three-goal cushion this time around at Wolves.
Moyes expressed his delight at the result, which has sent the Hammers to fourth place in the Premier League table with just eight games left to play.
The former Everton manager was pleased to prove his doubters wrong and explained that West Ham’s league position can no longer be called a fluke.
The West Ham boss also insisted on the importance of tightening the grip on the Champions League spot that the Hammers find themselves in as he stated that he wants his players to go about achieving a top four finish in a professional manner.
“We’re not a fluke now”, Moyes told West Ham United’s official site.
“We’ve now got ourselves into a position with eight games to go.
“Maybe tonight I was thinking how good it would be to get into a position, but when you hear people talking about West Ham being in fourth, let’s be fair, you’d have thought nobody in their right mind would have said that at the start of the season.
“But we’ve got here and we want to prove them wrong now.
“We want to do a good job, we want to hang in, we want to be professional, we want to play well and score goals when we can.
“It would just be nice if they could make it a bit easier for their manager on the bench, that’s for sure!
“It’s magic, though! We keep it going. We’re in April now and we’re still hanging in there with the top clubs.”
West Ham will look to widen the gap between the teams below them when they welcome third-placed Leicester City to the London Stadium on Sunday.
