Must Now Beat Blackburn Rovers – Cardiff Boss Mick McCarthy
After suffering just one defeat in his first 13 league games in charge of Cardiff, McCarthy has seen his side lose games back to back with the latest defeat coming against Sheffield Wednesday.
The Bluebirds suffered a 5-0 drubbing against the Owls, after goals from Julian Borner, Callum Paterson, Adam Reach and Jordan Rhodes put the result beyond doubt at Hillsborough.
With his Cardiff side sitting eighth in the Championship table, eight points behind sixth placed Reading in the playoff spots, McCarthy shifted his attention to the upcoming league game against Blackburn proclaiming it a must win for the Bluebirds.
McCarthy stated that the result against the Owls was a disappointing one for Cardiff after such a positive start to his managerial reign but he is hoping to see his men improve and put in a better effort in their next fixture with eight games left to play in the Championship.
“We’ll just keep trying to pick up points. Because everything has gone so well since myself and TC have come in, it’s been fabulous, and it’s easy to be supportive when it’s all going well”, McCarthy was quoted as saying by Cardiff City’s official site.
“When we’ve had a disappointing one, that’s when we need the support, and we’ll continue to work and try to get back on track.
“We’ve got to try and win against Blackburn now and get back to a better team performance all-round.
“We’ll certainly try to do that on Saturday.”
The Cardiff players will look to respond to their manager’s words when they square off against Blackburn this weekend.
