France signs agreement to introduce Baseball5 in schools
The French Baseball Softball Federation (FFBS, Fédération Française de Baseball et Softball) has signed an agreement with the national body that rules sport in elementary schools (USEP, Union Sportive de l'Enseignement du Premier degré) to allow all teachers to introduce Baseball5 in their classes starting from the school year 2021-22.
In charge of development with the FFBS, Elliot Fleys was part of the WBSC working group that prepared the launch of Baseball5 as a new discipline. He is now the head of the Baseball5 project for FFBS.
"National leaders and several elected officials from departmental and regional committees are enthusiastic about incorporating our new practice into their portfolio of activities," commented Fleys, who is also a member of the WBSC Baseball5 Commission. "We do have other projects that are ready to go. Colleges and high schools are the priority of tomorrow."

FFBS is also working on the preparation of the second French Open. The tournament will serve as a first selection for the National Team representing France in the U-18 Baseball5 European Championship, planned for 2022.
In the longer term, France has the goal to qualify for the Youth Olympic Games 2026.
France won in February 2020 the first-ever Baseball5 European Championship to qualify for the inaugural WBSC Baseball5 World Cup.
