Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man Bonds With Venom in Creepy Cool Art
A new piece of creepy-cool fan art shows Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man bonding with Venom. Andrew Garfield's turn as the web-slinger only lasted for two movies before Sony dropped his franchise due to declining ticket sales and negative reviews. Sony and Marvel struck a deal in 2015 that led to the studio rebooting the franchise with Tom Holland. Regardless, many people still remember Garfield's Spider-Man rather fondly.
Sony Pictures owns and produces all Spider-Man-related films, including the 2018 Venom movie starring Tom Hardy as the title character. In the comics, the symbiote initially attaches itself to Spider-Man before Peter rejects it once he discovers its true evil nature. The symbiote then bonds with Parker's rival Eddie Brock, becoming the Venom audiences met in the 2018 film. Both Venom and Spider-Man have been archenemies in the comics for several decades now.
Due to the characters' close relationship in the comic books, people have speculated how the movie version of this classic meeting could look. One user on Instagram, erathrim20, posted a wickedly cool concept showing how Garfield bonding with Venom could have looked in the Amazing Spider-Man films. The image shows the old web-slinger in the black Venom costume surrounded by the symbiote attaching itself to Parker's body. A red glowing light beams down on him from above.
Garfield's Peter Parker never got to meet Venom in his Spider-Man films, and with the cancellation of his movies, he most likely never will. However, there is a speck of hope. There have been numerous rumors flying around that Garfield will be in Spider-Man: No Way Home movie opposite Tom Holland. The film is expected to introduce the multiverse to the MCU and could feature many characters from previous non-MCU Marvel films like The Amazing Spiderman movies. If Garfield does return, it could open up the possibility that he may stick around for other Marvel flicks. Since Sony is creating more Venom stories, then perhaps Garfield could appear in one someday. The likelihood of this happening is low, however.
Nevertheless, the fact that fans are still creating fan art for Garfield's Spider-Man suggests he made a real impression on the moviegoing audience. It is a shame he did not get the opportunity to make more movies. If the rumors are true about Spider-Man: No Way Home, then maybe now Garfield can get the closure for his character that is desperately missing.
