Krysten Ritter Joins Elizabeth Olsen In HBO Max True-Crime Limited Series
Jessica Jones star Krysten Ritter has been chosen to star in HBO Max's upcoming true-crime series Love and Death alongside Elizabeth Olsen. The limited series is inspired by the book Evidence of Love: A Truth Story of Passion and Death in the Suburbs and a collection of Texas Monthly articles about a small-town murder that sounds like it came straight from a horror film.
According to Deadline, Ritter has been cast to play Sherry Cleckler in the upcoming HBO series. Cleckler is a close friend of Candy Montgomery, played by Olsen, who is a church-going woman turned ax murderer after a love affair takes a deadly turn.
Love and Death is the true story of Montgomery, who violently murders her one-time friend and neighbor Betty Gore, played by Lily Rabe, with an ax. The 1980 killing occurred after Betty's husband Allen Gore (played by Jesse Plemons) cut off his affair with Montgomery. The infamous murder, which happened to take place on Friday the 13th, created chaos in their tiny Texas town. The star-studded cast also includes Patrick Fugit as Pat Montgomery, Elizabeth Marvel as Pastor Jackie, Keir Gilchrist as Pastor Ron Adams, and Tom Pelphrey as Don Crowder.
The series will be directed by Lesli Linka Glatter and written by David E. Kelley. Kelley also reunites with his Big Little Lies and The Undoing collaborator Nicole Kidman on the project. As of now, HBO Max has yet to announce a release date for the highly-anticipated Love and Death limited series that's sure to be a popular pick due to its star-studded cast.
