Changing Rooms’ Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen mocked for ‘laughable and shocking’ bedroom makeover
CHANGING Rooms viewers have mocked host Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen after watching his ‘laughable and shocking’ bedroom makeover.
As the reboot of the interior design show aired on Wednesday night, fans of the Channel 4 programme were simply not impressed with his work.
The 56-year-old, who hosts the series alongside Anna Richardson, was tasked with revamping Kerry and Sophie’s uninspired loft bedroom.
Hinting at their likes and dislikes, it was revealed the pair were superhero comic book fans and had even incorporated a Poison Ivy theme at their wedding.
With this in mind, the quirky designer decided to go with a purple colour scheme and called his project The Villa Villainess.
Working with different shades of his chosen colours, Laurence incorporated bold printed wallpaper, upcycled antique chairs and a rainbow headboard fitted with a row of lights.
But it was when it came to his decision to ditch a normal wardrobe door – for vertical window blinds – that viewers were up in arms.
“HES USING BLINDS AS A WARDROBE DOORRRRRRRRRR [crying emojis x6],” exclaimed one person on Twitter.

Another annoyed viewer wrote: “This purple room with the ceiling, the Arch, the mural, wood frames.. I was dispairing.. now purple vertical blinds for the wardrobe? This whole room is FOUL.
“How is he a famous designer [Neutral face emoji] #changingrooms
A third said: “The blinds have tipped me over the edge also! Shocking. #changingrooms”.
Trying to explained his reasoning, Laurence said on the show: “Where the wardrobe is, we’ve got very, very little space between the wardrobe and the bed.
‘SHOCKING’
“Putting fitted doors in the conventional way would be really inconvenient.
“Actually, having a vertical blind is the best there – it takes up no space whatsoever.”
He added: “You pull it and you can completely then open up and see what you’ve got in the wardrobe.”
Unfortunately he failed to convince viewers, as another commented: “F*** OFF THE BLINDS ON THE WARDROBE #changingrooms”.
Changing Rooms airs Wednesdays at 8pm on Channel 4.
