Girls volleyball roundup: Tam, Terra Linda win to set up quarterfinal clash

Sachi Hauser went on a crucial nine-point service run, helping the Tam High girls volleyball team keep Albany at bay in the first round of the North Coast Section Division III volleyball playoffs on Tuesday night.

Albany pulled within two points in the fourth set before Hauser helped the No 4 Red-tailed Hawks (24-11) put the game away, winning 25-27, 25-18, 25-16, 25-17.

Wesley Slavin had 33 assists and five kills while Natalia Clifford had 11 kills and nine digs. Amelia Sandgren added 14 digs and and three aces.

Tam hosts a quarterfinal match at 7 p.m. on Saturday against No. 5 Terra Linda.

TL sweeps

Bella Manes posted 21 digs to help Terra Linda take down Moreau Catholic, 25-18, 25-20, 25-21 in the first round of the NCS D-III playoffs on Tuesday.

Ruby Kuerschner had 37 assists for the Trojans (19-12). Olivia Quinby had 11 kills and two blocks and Audrey Nelson added 17 kills, 16 digs and three aces.

Falcons win

Elsa Snipes had a team-high 11 kills and added six digs and an ace to help No. 2 Archie Williams to a 25-23, 25-15, 25-17 victory against No. 15 Head-Royce in the NCS D-III playoffs.

Olivia Dow had 17 assists and Reese Fraser had 12. Josie Griffiths had seven kills, four blocks, two digs and two aces. Lauren Barnwell and Phoebe Galland had 17 digs apiece for the Peregrine Falcons (18-6), who host No. 10 Sonoma Valley at 7 p.m. on Saturday.

Marin goes 5-0

Top-seeded Branson swept past No. 16 Albany, 25-6, 25-7, 25-14 in the NCS D-III playoffs. The Bulls (23-4) are set to host No. 8 Novato at 7 p.m. on Saturday at College of Marin. The Hornets (8-14) hit the road and took down No. 9 Encinal, 25-10, 14-25, 25-15, 25-23.

Branson could face nothing but MCAL teams from now until the finals — the Hornets on Saturday, the Tam-TL winner in the semifinals and potentially Archie Williams in the title game.
