Steve Bannon on school boards: 'It's time to start locking up these people'
Right-wing broadcaster Steve Bannon argued on Wednesday that Republicans should push to jail school board members who violate conservative principles.
Bannon made the comments on his War Room program while interviewing a parent who opposes the idea of teaching critical race theory to students in Virginia. Bannon pointed to allegations that a gender-fluid student in Loudon County has been accused of two sexual assaults.
The longtime adviser to former President Donald Trump also made the assumption that Glenn Youngkin (R) will defeat Terry McAuliffe (D) in the Virginia race for governor next month.
"They should have an affirming environment and a welcoming environment for the school board in Loudon County," Bannon said sarcastically. "They should immediately bring criminal charges."
"It's time to start locking up these people on these school boards if they're going to oversee this and let children be raped and sodomized," he added. "There's got to be a penalty for that."
Bannon went on to falsely suggest that Attorney General Merrick Garland had declared that parents who speak out at school board meetings are "domestic terrorists."
