Manchester United in talks over potential £35m transfer of Erik ten Hag favourite
Manchester United are reportedly in transfer talks over Ajax defender Jurrien Timber as Erik ten Hag looks to raid the Eredivisie giants.
Ten Hag is about to leave Ajax to take over as Man Utd manager, and it looks like he has Timber in his sights as one of his first signings.
According to the Daily Mirror, negotiations are already underway for the Red Devils to sign the £35million-rated youngster, with the piece also quoting Ten Hag as admitting he expected plenty of top clubs to show an interest in the player this summer.
“I think all the top clubs in Europe have Timber in their sights. But I think that applies to a lot of Ajax players at the moment,” he said.
Timber has shone under Ten Hag at Ajax, and it makes sense that the Dutch tactician is a big fan of the 20-year-old.
MUFC need to strengthen in defence this summer after the poor form of Harry Maguire, while Raphael Varane has had a stop-start season at Old Trafford after struggling to stay fit.
Timber may be young, but he already looks like he’d play an important role at United under Ten Hag.
