EastEnders fans break down in tears as Jean Slater is tormented in mental health unit
EASTENDERS fans are in tears after watching Jean Slater being tormented on the mental health ward.
The cleaner – who is played by actress Gillian Wright in the BBC soap – broke down in tears after another patient began terrorising her.
She was left sobbing and hiding behind a wardrobe after becoming convinced the other woman was trying to kill her.
Viewers know Jean hasn’t been sleeping because of the worry.
Last week she begged her daughter Stacey to get her out of the unit and take her home.
But in tonight’s episode Stacey saw first-hand what was happening to her mum.

And having had a row with the doctors who didn’t seem to take it seriously – despite Jean being effectively kidnapped by the other patient, Stacey made a decision.
Letting rip at the doctor Stacey demanded they save Jean from the woman.
“You’re the reason she’s in there in the first place,” she said.
“I told you she needed moving. And I’m warning you that if anything happens to her you won’t get away with it.”

And then she told them she was taking Jean home.
Once she got home Jean was terrified of being near any blankets after her ordeal on the ward.
Viewers were in tears at the scene.
One wrote: “Poor Jean. I hope Stacey is making the right decision #EastEnders.”
