Michael Stefanic expected to join Angels
Infielder Michael Stefanic will join the Angels on Sunday, a source said.
Stefanic has been one of the Angels top performers in the minor leagues for the past two seasons.
Stefanic, 26, was hitting .320 with an .808 OPS at Triple-A Salt Lake.
A non-drafted free agent out of Westmont College in Santa Barbara, Stefanic hit .334 with a .913 OPS last season at Triple-A.
It’s unclear where Stefanic would play in the majors, but they just signed Jonathan Villar to play third, and Luís Rengifo has been playing well at second, so they could move Rengifo to short and play Stefanic at second.
