Watch as HGV driver gets out to check the height of a bridge before RAMMING into it – did you think he’d make it?
AN HGV driver has had a shocker after getting out to check the height of a bridge, only to drive straight into it.
The video, uploaded to Facebook and Instagram, has been liked more than 2000 times.
The video is shot from the forward perspective of a car’s dash cam and starts with the car approaching a low bridge.
In front of the camera car is a van and in front of that is an HGV, which is slowing as it nears the bridge.
After pausing for a bit, the driver opens his door and jumps out to have a closer look at his HGV’s height relative to the bridge.
He even turns to the queuing traffic behind and seemingly asks what they think too.

Although it’s difficult to be sure given the angle of the camera, it looks like the HGV is too tall for the bridge by quite a way.
Therefore you expect the next move by the HGV will be the reverse lights coming on and it struggling to back around the traffic and out of the way.
But no, instead the driver goes for it, slamming into the bridge.
The driver of the van in front of the camera car can be seen looking out of his window in disbelief.

The video ends there, but the driver of the HGV doesn’t get out – we assume from embarrassment.
