Lionesses party hard on the bus to celebrate Euro 2022 victory

In case you did the impossible and missed it, football finally came home last night.

The entire country has been celebrating the Lionesses’ dramatic 2-1 win against Germany – the first time England has ever won the European Championships.

But no one is as excited as the players themselves, and deservedly so.

The team was seen dancing and singing to nineties and noughties bangers, without even needing to actually play the songs.

Goalkeeper Mary Earps posted an Instagram story showing the footballers belting out Cascada’s 2003 hit Everytime We Touch.

Mary cannot wipe the smile off of her face as she filmed herself jumping in a circle in the locker rooms with her medal bouncing around her neck.

The party was non-stop and continued onto the bus with a joyful rendition of Gala’s 1997 Freed From Desire.

The fact the music was not actually on posed no challenge to the team, who took it upon themselves to shout the iconic verse: ‘Na na na nanna nana nanana nanana Na na na nanna nana nanana na na’.

England fans certainly matched the team’s energy as they too partied into early hours of the morning.

Football classics Sweet Caroline and Three Lions (Football’s Coming Home) reverberated around Wembley and the country, with wild scenes across London lasting for hours.

A number of fans even took a celebratory dip in the fountains at Trafalgar Square.

Another celebration is planned this morning for England’s undoubtedly-bleary-eyed squad, who will appear at 11am in Trafalgar Square.

Up to 7,000 supporters will celebrate with the players at the daytime event hosted by veteran Lioness Alex Scott.

People will be able to gain free entry on a first-come first-served basis from 11am, and can enjoy live music from DJ Monki while tournament highlights are shown on screens.

The players and manager, Sarina will take part in a Q&A session before lifting the trophy.

The event has been organised by the Greater London Authority, the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and Westminster Council, and will be broadcast live on BBC One and BBC iPlayer from 12.40pm.

It is expected to end at 2pm.
