#LAKings Round 2: LA Kings Reverse Retro 2.0 Jersey Mock-Ups (MayorsManor)
Less than a year after Mayor’s Manor first revealed the LA Kings plans for their original Reverse Retro jersey in October 2020, we leaked news regarding plans for Reverse Retro 2.0.
The first go around was a smashing success – not just in Los Angeles, but league wide. Unfortunately, global supply chain issues prevented most teams from financially capitalizing on the overwhelming fan reaction to many of the new jersey offerings. Kings sweaters sold out almost immediately and the striking purple and gold design remains one of the most sought after LA jerseys in recent memory.
Can the league get it right again a second time around?
We’re about to find out in the weeks ahead.
While nothing has been made official, many of our sources still continue to indicate the Kings Reverse Retro 2.0 look will be built around a white base jersey. In fact, we previously shared what is essentially a white version of the first edition RR offering.
As we’ve continued to poke around in recent months, nearly everybody is being tight-lipped regarding what was ultimately approved and signed off on. As best we can tell, it will most likely be a white jersey with purple and gold accents. When it comes to the crest, the Kings are said to be leaning into one of their previous logos. Given the nature of most Reverse Retro designs, we have narrowed things down to three possible additions to consider:
The first of those three jerseys above clearly uses a derivative of the Kings original crown logo from 1967. Meanwhile, the latter two feature a crest that borrows from one of the Kings other original designs – in both a traditional and reversed out design.
If the idea of simply creating an inverse shell of Reverse Retro 1.0 is sinply too easy, the staff at Addidas could also opt to stay in the Kings purple and yellow motif, albeit draw from the early 80’s design with some RR flair to spice things up:
We’re expecting more information to become available in the weeks ahead. Let’s see where this all goes.
One additional tidbit we’ve picked up along the way is that some teams (maybe most?) only plan to wear the Reverse Retro 2.0 jerseys in the first-half of the season. No word just yet on what the official reason for such a move would be. Again, we’ll see.
