Olivia Pratt-Korbel’s mum fights tears and tells killer ‘own up’ in emotional video
Olivia Pratt-Korbel’s mum broke down in tears as she told those responsible for her daughter’s death ‘you know you’ve done wrong, so you need to own up’.
Cheryl Korbel has remembered ‘my little shadow who never stopped talking’ after the nine-year-old was shot dead when a gunman stormed into the family’s home in Liverpool.
In a heart-wrenching new video, she said she’d never get to buy Olivia’s new school uniform or take her swimming again – but promised ‘I’ll keep going, for Liv’.
Wearing a cast on her arm after being injured in the attack herself, Ms Korbel described her daughter: ‘She was amazing, she loved life. She was my little shadow, she went everywhere with me.
‘She loved, well she didn’t like school cos she had to do work. But she loved it because she was there with all her friends.
‘Everyone that she met, they all fell in love with her. She left a mark on everyone that she met.
‘She may well have only been nine, but she packed a lot into nine years.’
Ms Korbel’s voice shook and she sobbed as she added: ‘She never, ever stopped talking. And that’s what I miss the most cos I can’t hear her talk.’
The 46-year-old has pleaded with anyone involved in the killing to come forward.
‘You know you’ve done wrong, so you need to own up’, she said. ‘Like I taught my kids, you do something wrong, you own up to it.
‘If anyone is hiding these guns they need to speak up because they need to be off the streets. No one, no one at all should have to go through this.’
Olivia was killed when a gunman chased convicted burglar Joseph Nee into her home on August 22.
A man, 34, from Liverpool, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.
He remains in custody after police were granted an extension to continue questioning him.
Three other men have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
The emotional new footage comes after Olivia’s dad paid tribute to his ‘bright spark’ who could be ‘a proper wind-up merchant’.
Saying ‘no words can express the pain’ his family is going through, he also pleaded with anyone holding onto evidence to come forward so Olivia’s killer can be put behind bars.
