Tottenham accidentally email fans inviting them to watch England’s World Cup semi-final hours after Kane’s penalty miss

OVER 23 MILLION viewers tuned in to watch England’s World Cup exit on Saturday – but it seems the person behind Tottenham’s email account was not among them.

The Three Lions suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 loss to France in the 2022 World Cup quarter-finals at the Al Bayt Stadium last night.

Les Bleus controversially opened the scoring with Aurelien Tchouameni’s long-range stunner before Tottenham’s very own Harry Kane levelled things up from the penalty spot before Olivier Giroud extended his scoring record with 53 goals.

England’s heroic captain Kane then had the chance to equalise once more with another spot-kick but he sadly missed the target late on.

However, as the Spurs star and his team-mates struggled to hold back the tears after the whistle, his employers were busy sending out an email.

And they scored an unfortunate own goal this morning as they delivered a message inviting fans to watch England’s semi-final at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The automated gaffe, which led with the heading “A world class venue for World Cup screenings”, went on to invite supporters to “Watch England in the World Cup semi final at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium”.

It even went on to add: “Experience the excitement and drama of a World Cup semi-final at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium!

“With a place in the Final at stake, England’s date with destiny awaits on Wednesday 14th December, 7 pm KO. Will Gareth Southgate’s men make it to a first World Cup Final since 1966?

Fans quickly took to social media afterwards, with one writing: “Hahahahaha. This is gold!! @SpursOfficial sent out an email this morning inviting people to come watch England in the semi final of the World Cup at their gaffe!! Proper embarrassing.”

Another tweeted: “Someone forgot to delete the automatic emails this morn!”

While another added: “Sooo Spursy!”

Meanwhile, England fans went in two-footed on Arsenal after a tweet they sent out following the heartbreaking World Cup defeat to France.

Despite Bukayo Saka, who was fouled in the build-up to France’s opener, and Aaran Ramsdale both being part of the England squad, they shared a photo of Frenchman William Saliba with his country’s flag decked around his neck.

And Arsenal captioned the tweet with: “Our Wilo. A World Cup semi-finalist” – leading to supporters instantly hitting back at the Premier League leaders’ Twitter account as they blasted the tweet.
