Heartless restaurant boss fired for telling workers to ‘bring in their dead pet’ if they want time off

A HEARTLESS restaurant manager has been sacked for telling staff they must “bring in their dead pets” to prove they’ve died if they want time off.

The Olive Garden boss sent out the intimidating message to staff at a franchise in Kansas.

A spokesperson for the Italian restaurant chain has confirmed the manager no longer worked for the company.

An insensitive note read: “We are no longer tolerating ANY EXCUSE for calling off. If you’re sick, you need to come prove it to us.”

“If your dog died, you need to bring him in and prove it to us. If it’s a ‘family emergency’ and you can’t say, too bad. Go work somewhere else.”

“If you want morning shifts, too bad go work at a bank.”

The manager claimed her entire management team had “had enough”.

She said: “If you don’t want to work here, don’t. If you’re here to work, then work. You’re in the restaraunt business.

“You think I want to be here until midnight on Friday and Saturday? No. But I’m dedicated to being here.”

The manager’s name has remained private, but Olive Garden confirmed the manager no longer worked for the company.

An Olive Garden representative told a local news channel that the email did not align with company values.

Their statement said: “We strive to provide a caring and respectful work environment for our team members.”

The message from the manager was shared online, leaving people furious.

One Twitter user wrote:  “Managers who are too good to do the work of their employees are not managers.”

Another chimed in and said: “The idea that managing and leading are somehow the same is as baffling as it is pervasive.

“Anyone can be a manager by telling others what to do, but only a leader can make them want to do it; and the best way to achieve that is by example.”

Another boss caused a stir when he handed employees a sign stating 13 work rules as she warns she watches staff on cameras “all day every day”.

The self-declared “mean” manager who issued the demanding list has been accused of “abusing her power” by stunned social media users.

“Every shift is to do all shift duties I will be watching cameras all day every day!!!,” one of the orders says.

Others tell workers not to use their phones, have food while on duty or be late.

At the end of the rules, the manager declared she is “over trying to be nice”.
