12/17/2022: Snow & rain in the rear view!
The latest Storm Tracker Forecast from meteorologist Matt Mackie:
The system that brought us a ton of messy, wintry weather is wrapping up... finally! Totals ranges from up to two feet in the mountains, to only a couple inches in the Capital District. Some right along the Hudson River barely switched over to snow at all and received only a trace amount.
It was truly a difficult storm to forecast. The aftermath is also difficult for many - the snow was heavy and wet enough to bring down trees and power lines in some locations. Thousands are without power in parts of Warren, Washington, and Saratoga Counties.
We are much quieter for the remainder of the day. It may get a bit breezy at times early this afternoon, with highs in the mid 30's. Tonight, we'll dip down into the 20's, so any slush left on the ground may freeze over. Get the sidewalks and driveways taken care of before that happens!
Sunday and Monday are quiet for most, with perhaps a few flurries around. In the western Adirondacks, however, more substantial lake effect snow showers are possible A Winter Storm Watch is up for Hamilton & northern Herkimer counties. 7 or more inches of snow could fall.
Temps stay chilly with morning lows in the 20's and afternoon highs in the mid 30's through Tuesday.
We'll have a couple colder starts with teens in the forecast for Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Winter officially begins with the solstice at 4:47 pm Wednesday. The next big weather system could bring more wintry weather by Thursday night or Friday.
