Residents of mysuru who live outside of the city center are now subject to the jurisdiction of four new town panchayats and one city municipal council. These bodies have been created in the absence of an elected body to oversee the residents' issues, including a lack of cleanliness and safety in the neighborhoods, rampant burning of garbage, and difficulty obtaining basic services. One of the main challenges facing these residents is a lack of coordination between the various government bodies responsible for their care, as well as a lack of resources to address the problems.
