Man slapped security guard so hard she was deaf for two months
A female bouncer was slapped so hard by a drunk punter that she went deaf for two months, a court heard.
Barry Danes, 34, rowed with door staff at Alberry’s wine bar in Canterbury before barging his way inside in the early hours of February 25.
Security guard Bethany Stone tried to confront him, but the six-foot-three drunk floored her with a single powerful blow which left her dazed.
Danes then started brawling with another customer before hurling ‘disgusting’ racist abuse at a group of Black guests there to celebrate a ‘people of colour’ event.
Ms Stone told the court she was unable to hear for two months following the assault, which left her feeling anxious around males while at work.
Danes, from Sittingbourne, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and racially aggravated abuse at Canterbury Crown Court.
Judge Simon Taylor KC imposed an 11-month prison sentence but suspended the term for two years.
He also ordered Danes, who has 18 convictions for 39 offences, to stay sober for 120 days.
Danes will now be fitted with a tag able to detect alcohol levels through his sweat.
He must also complete 250 hours of unpaid work and pay £1,000 compensation to Ms Stone along with £500 in court costs.
