Former Pussycat Dolls Singer Deeply Regrets Her Abortions: I Ask for Forgiveness From God

Former Pussycat Dolls lead singer Kaya Jones opened up about her abortions for the first time this week, sharing about the forgiveness that she found in God after suffering a “train of trauma.”

Jones, the lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls from 2003 to 2004, began speaking out against abortion several years ago. This week on Christine Yeargin’s “Speak Out” podcast, sponsored by Students for Life, she explained why: She had three herself and she deeply regrets them.

“You will regret it your whole life,” she said of her three abortions. “Even if I become a mother tomorrow, and I’m happily married and all is well, I’m still going to regret the three children I did not have.”

Jones said she became pregnant for the first time at age 16 when her birth control failed. She did not tell her parents or anyone else; she just went to the abortion facility and had her child aborted.

“I didn’t feel that it was murder,” she said. “… I didn’t have any understanding of it. I didn’t speak to my family or anyone about it. I just went and did it.”

Working in the music industry only perpetuated those beliefs. Looking back, Jones said she now sees the entertainment industry as almost like a sex trafficking ring that objectifies women and girls and, when they become pregnant, pressures them to abort their unborn babies.

As a celebrity, “you are a owned commodity. You’re not allowed to think for yourself, feel for yourself, date for yourself, want for yourself. What you eat gets decided for you … who you date. Ultimately, you can’t have a child,” she said.

While singing with the Pussycat Dolls, she said she became pregnant again and was told to abort her second child.

“I was told to get rid of it,” Jones told Yeargin. “At that point, because I had already gone through an abortion, I didn’t think it was that big of a deal.”

After leaving the band, she had a third abortion. Jones said she wanted her third baby, but she had conceived the child in rape and experienced “complications” that led her to choose abortion again.

“After the first one, you don’t think you’ve done anything wrong. It’s been normalized. And what is a line until you’ve crossed it? … Once you’ve crossed that line, it’s a very slippery slope to continue to cross those lines,” she said, according to the Daily Wire.

Eventually, however, Jones said aborting her three children led to “train of trauma” and pain in her life.

“It is very painful. There is a lot of anger. There’s a lot of frustration,” she said. “There’s a lack of knowledge. There’s a lot of regrets. And nothing can make that go away other than God himself when you lay it at his feet and ask for salvation on these issues.”

Jones said God forgave and healed her, and now she feels called to speak out to help other women and girls understand the truth. For the past several years, she has been sharing about her pro-life Christian beliefs and the way Hollywood often mistreats women and girls.

Jones told Yeargin that she felt called by the Holy Spirit to tell her abortion story with the hopes of encouraging others to choose life. She said aborting a child is “painful beyond measure” and something a woman never gets over.

To those in the entertainment industry who influenced and pressured her, Jones said she prays for them and hopes they, too, will repent and find forgiveness in Christ.
