The hit-and-run that left a final year btech student, Sweety Kumari comatose with critical head injuries on New Year's Eve has made no headway with no CCTV footage to point the police towards the white hatchback- possibly a Santro- that is believed to have hit Sweety and two of her friends from the back around 9pm that night. The only CCTV camera near the accident spot is at a school right next to it- Modern School- but its footage has yielded nothing because the camera points towards the service lane, not the main road. According to the police, the road leads to the labour chowk intersection which has just one CCTV camera installed by traffic police several years ago but isn't functioning at present. Since none of the witnesses to the accident near the delta 1 metro station registered the car's number, there is now a serious possibility that the culprit will not be found because of the lack of electronic leads. Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh told TOI that she had found that the police had written to the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) several times for installation of cameras, but that nothing had been done by them earlier. 115 spots were identified for cameras to be installed, and after a
