Lotto winner scoops incredible £13million jackpot – and the town where he bought the ticket has a VERY appropriate name
A LOTTO has winner scooped a nearly £13million jackpot – but he could have the name of the town where he bought his ticket to thank for his good fortune.
The winner struck gold with his numbers – 4-6-12-17-27-28 – but has not come forth to claim his massive prize yet.
Officials say the jackpot is the largest awarded lump sum in Wisconsin in the US since 2015.
And in a staggering stroke of good fortune, the winning ticket was purchased in a town called Luck.
The odds of winning a jackpot are astronomical: 1 in 6,991,908, according to the Wisconsin lottery.
State Lottery Director Cindy Polzin said: “What a great way to start 2023!
“We can’t wait to meet the lucky winner.”
The £13million jackpot was won through the state lottery’s Megabucks game, and was purchased in grocery shop Wayne’s Food Plus.
Store manager Paul Wondra also got lucky as he raked in £85,000 alone for simply selling the ticket.
He said: “We could not be happier for the winner. They truly got lucky in Luck.”
Retailers who sell the winning tickets for over £500 receive a 2 per cent Retailer Performance Program Winning Ticket Incentive, up to £85,000.
In this case, Wayne’s Food Plus got the maximum incentive allowance thanks to the £13million jackpot.
This comes days after a man in Ohio won almost £80,000 in the state lottery after his wife begged him not to buy more tickets.
Vietnam war veteran John said his wife Olga has always brought him “good luck”, so she pressed the button to print his lottery ticket – which ended up being worth $80,000.
He said: “I think she was my good luck.
“No, I know she was my good luck. Always has been.”
