Who is Joe Phillips on The Apprentice?
SEASON seventeen of The Apprentice has landed with a fresh batch of candidates all hoping to impress Lord Alan Sugar.
One person who has switched their stunning safari life in South Africa for the London boardroom in hopes of winning the £250,000 investment is Joe Phillips.
Who is Joe Phillips?
Joseph Phillips from Worcestershire is one of 18 contestants aspiring to win Lord Alan Sugar’s business investment.
He studied zoology at the University of Exeter before becoming a safari guide in South Africa.
Joe was diagnosed with dyslexia when he was at school and said it is his “driving force” for him to succeed and prove his capabilities.
“It’s made me fight harder to keep up with everyone else,” he added.
“Then when I finally caught up, it wasn’t enough, I needed to go past them to prove to people that, yes, you can have dyslexia, but you can still succeed in whatever you want to do.”
Describing himself in his Instagram bio as a “Conservationist & Entrepreneur,” Joe regularly shows off his love of animals and fitness over on his account.

What is Joe Phillips’ day job?
After studying zoology Joe became a safari guide in South Africa.
He launched his brand Faliforna, a sustainable ocean-friendly cosmetics company during his second year of university.
From this, he created surf Balm, a lip balm made from 100% natural ingredients and packaged in a recyclable aluminium tin.
On his website, he states: “I hope to raise awareness for the need to transition away from traditional cosmetics and towards a more sustainable future.”
What has Joe Phillips said about The Apprentice?
Joe hopes to wow Lord Alan Sugar with his ocean-friendly lip balm business, and describes himself as the “James Bond of the business world.”
He believes his experience in zoology will give him an “edge” on the BBC One show.
Joe told the press: “I don’t deserve Lord Sugar’s investment more than anyone else in the process, but I do think I have something that they don’t.
“If Lord Sugar wants to invest in a business to help save the ocean, one lip balm at a time, then I’m his guy.”
