Leeds United Chat • Re: The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Friday 6th January) Middle East group to rival 49ers for control of LUFC
Wasn't Klich sent out on loan under Christiansen ? I think he didn't rate Klich at all, in which case Bielsa did a great job in spotting and then bringing out his latent ability.Always a tricky one too as some players may be good but just not fit into the manager's plans. Klich is a great example. Tomas Christiansen didn't seem to rate him, Bielsa loved him and Marsch saw him as simply a fringe player because he had no one else. Now whilst Klich may not be as good as he was at his peak under Bielsa I feel he has done well every time he has come on as a sub this season and deserved a couple of starts in recent weeks when others were chosen instead of him to replace Roca or Adams. If Bielsa hadn't got the best out of Klich then he would have just gone down as a failed transfer.
Gnonto is another good example. Marsch instantly said he wasn't good enough to be a starter and but for injuries I doubt he would have given him a chance. However Gnonto proved the manager wrong and has made himself almost undroppable. But for the injuries would he simply be getting frustrated in the U21s?
Also Rodrigo. We saw earlier on in the season that Marsch was happy to drop Rodrigo for Bamford (when it appeared Bamford was over his injuries) despite Rodrigo scoring a few goals. If we'd bought Bamba Dieng would he have started and Rodrigo been relegated to the bench?
Sometimes all it takes is for a signing to be given a chance, like Gnonto, and other times someone can be seen as a failure but then rediscover the ability that made them a target in the first place, such as Rodrigo.
On the other hand Bielsa couldn't get the best out of Rodrigo after Bamford was injured and we needed a no 9 , whereas Marsch has managed to do this.
