Terrifying moment child falls out of moving car on a busy road
Traffic was forced to screech to a halt in the middle of a busy highway in the US after a child tumbled out of a vehicle into the road.
Video footage from the incident on the I-35 near Des Moines, Iowa, shows the moment the youngster fell out of the car.
The car approached the exit from I-35 southbound to I-80/35 westbound at around 11.20am on Tuesday morning, WHO13 reported.
As the vehicle slowed down with the child hanging out of the open door, they then then tumbled out.
The child – whose identity, age and gender is unknown – appeared to be trapped with their legs splayed outwards in the middle of the road.
Two other drivers spotted what happened and quickly stopped their vehicles at the sides of the road to get out and help the occupants of the car.
The driver of a large lorry also saw the child and thankfully slowed down to a stop in the middle of the road, just in front of them.
The child was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The Iowa Department of Transportation said the child had ‘tried to exit the moving car for unknown reasons’.
Over in the UK, it was not children but cows causing chaos in the roads when a herd decided to stampede through Kent.
Breakdown technician Joe Clift, who filmed part of what happened, said: ‘I was in pure shock because It’s really strange to see. It was like a weird dream. They were literally sprinting up the road.
‘When I noticed traffic had built up in front of me and cars had put their hazard lights on I stopped and left a big gap, and then about 30 cows emerged from the traffic.
‘There were a lot of big cows then there were little calves in between them as well, but they were all just running away from something and I was caught in the middle.’
