The mangaluru the rani abbakka training school for army aspirants was started in October last year in three districts- Udupi uttara kannada and Dakshina Kannada in Dakshina Kannada, and in Udupi. It is named after rani abbakka koti chennayya, in Udupi. The initiative is the brainchild of social welfare and backward classes welfare minister kota shrinivas poojarirashmi s r district officer of the backward classes welfare department. As of now, the residential facility intake is 100. The aspirants are both trained for physical and academic parameters. The training begins at 6am and continues until 830am. It is followed by competitive exam coaching from 10am till noon after the lunch break sessions start at 2pm. The candidates are given lessons in English and mathematics which stretch until 4pm. They are back on the field for physical training until 6 pm. The aspirants will participate in army selection drives held across the state a few days ago. Some of them participated in the agneepath recruitment rally. All the inmates of the training schools are served food from a special menu curated by the head office. As of
