Pakistan urges Iran to Investigate cross-border terrorist raid
Pakistan on Thursday urged the Iranian authorities to investigate the recent cross-border terrorist attack in the Panjgur district of Balochistan province, which took place on January 18.
Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch briefing at weekly news in Islamabad that the attack was launched from the Iranian territory to target Pakistani security forces patrolling the Pakistan-Iran border.
Baloch said, “We expect Iran to ensure its territory is not used for cross-border attacks in Pakistan.”
She added that Pakistan had shared its concerns regarding the attack with the Iranian authorities.
The terrorist attack, launched from “Iranian soil”, took the lives of four security personnel, as reported by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The incident occurs as Pakistan struggles to combat recent increases in terror attacks, particularly those carried out within Pakistan and over the Pak-Afghan border by the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Pakistan frequently asked the interim government in Afghanistan to ensure that the soil was not used for terrorist activities against Pakistan’s national interests. However, the acting authorities in Kabul refused any anti-Pakistani activities from Afghan territory.
