An upcoming cruise will sail around the world in 180 days for up to $300,000 — see what it'll be like

Why rush to travel around the world in 80 days when you can do so in 180 days aboard a luxurious cruise ship?

Viking has announced its latest Viking World Voyage I, a 2024 to 2025 cruise that will sail around the world in 180 days.

And if this itinerary sells as well as the cruise line's past global sailings, this 180-day vacation could be fully booked in the coming weeks.

Over the last two years, Viking's world cruises have booked exceptionally well.

Its previous 2021 and 2022 around the world cruises sold out in a few weeks, records for the cruise line.

Demand for extended sailings has continued to stay "strong," Torstein Hagen, the company's chairman, said in a press release.

And very few itineraries are as "extended" as an around the world cruise.

In December 2024, the 930-guest Viking Sky will depart from Fort Lauderdale, Florida and begin its 180-day journey.

The vessel and its passengers will then visit 37 countries across five continents …

… stopping at a total of 85 ports with 13 one to two-night stays in destinations like Singapore and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

After departing Florida, the ship will travel through ports in Central America before heading through the Panama Canal and up the US West Coast.

From the US mainland, the ship will sail through the Pacific Ocean with stops in Hawaii and French Polynesia on its way to New Zealand and Australia.

After, it'll begin its long trek through Asia, the Middle East, the Mediterranean, and northern Europe …

… before traversing the Atlantic Ocean to its final destination: New York in June 2025.

Along the way, guests will get to explore destinations like Cartagena, Colombia, Yangon, Myanmar, Lisbon, Portugal, and Reykjavik, Iceland.

But if living on a cruise ship for six months seems too long, travelers can also join the sailing when it stops in Los Angeles for a 163-day vacation.

There's also the option for an even shorter 138-day and 121-day leg that will sail from Florida and Los Angeles, respectively, to London.

There will be about 60 days at sea with no ports of call on the full 180-day itinerary.

To stave off boredom, travelers can spend time exploring the cruise ship's amenities …

… which include two pools, a spa, and several dining, lounge, and bar venues.

And unlike most modern mega cruise ships, the Viking Sky's eight restaurants are all included at no extra cost.

But this doesn't mean it'll be a budget cruise.

The sailing starts at almost $80,000 per person for the 270-square-foot veranda stateroom.

This price then shoots up to nearly $300,000 for the owners' suite.

But if you're thinking of booking these ultra-luxurious accommodations, you're already too late. The 1,448-square-foot stateroom is already sold out, according to Viking's website.
