Report: Serie A club prepared to sell playmaker; Spurs considered frontrunners
Multiple sources are now reporting that AS Roma are ready to sell Nicolò Zaniolo before the window closes amid Tottenham’s advances to sign the attacker.
Sky Italia reported earlier this week that Roma could be open to cashing in on the playmaker either during this month’s transfer window or in the summer with the 23-year-old set to be out of contract in the summer of 2024.
The publication suggested that Tottenham were leading the race to sign the 23-year-old while West Ham United and Borussia Dortmund were also monitoring the Italian international.
There have now been further positive updates on the matter, with Fabrizio Romano taking to social media to reveal that Roma have now decided to cash in on Zaniolo after failing to reach an agreement on a new contract with the player.
The journalist claimed that the Giallorossi want €40m (£35.1m) for the winger, with Spurs being kept ‘well informed’ of the situation.

Meanwhile, Alfredo Pedulla has also said that Roma’s attempts to tie down Zaniolo to a new contract have failed.
The journalist added that Spurs have expressed a willingness to pay €30m (£26.3) including add-ons for the attacker, which if believed is just €10m (£8.7m) short of the fee Romano mentioned as the Serie A club’s valuation.

Spurs Web Opinion
Despite the speculation linking us to names like Trossard and Edwards, I suspect right from the start that Zaniolo would be Spurs’ top attacking target in January after we missed out on him last summer.
It is clear that both Paratici and Conte are big fans of the Roma star and they would perhaps be expecting the 23-year-old to have the sort of impact that Kulusevski made when he arrived at the club 12 months ago.
