Report: Attacker ‘says yes’ to joining Spurs – Paratici now in talks with club over deal
SportMediaSet report that Nicolo Zaniolo has now said yes to the prospect of joining Tottenham Hotspur and will not play a part in Sunday’s match against Spezia as a result.
However, while Roma reportedly accept it is time to part ways with the winger, there is still some distance between the valuation and format of a possible deal with Tottenham.
Talks are set to continue over the next few days between the Seria A side and Fabio Paratici, and the idea of wearing the Spurs shirt and being coached by Antonio Conte, at least for now, appeals to Zaniolo.
Spurs apparently want Zaniolo on a loan deal with an obligation to buy, but they do not want to pay more than €20m (£17.5m) and want to include conditions such as qualifying for the Champions League.
Roma, on the other hand, want to include terms that are easier to trigger for the obligation to buy and want a price nearer to €35m/€40m (£30.6m/£35m).
West Ham, Leicester and Newcastle remain in the background as Paratici continues talks, while Roma would like a deal done in order to make capital gains by 30 June.
Spurs Web Opinion:
This feels like a pretty simple deal to get done if Conte really wants the player. Zaniolo wants the move, Roma want to sell, and Spurs want to buy. Usually, it comes down to negotiating the price and meeting in the middle over the space of a week or two.
