The state government is planning to engage those who save accident victims in raising awareness on road safety. The "saviours who are acknowledged as good samaritans by the transport department" will be roped in to hold awareness camps in their areas as well as on social media platforms. "Many injured persons often die due to delay in getting treatment such lives can be saved if the victims are shifted to nearby hospitals on time" states the state commerce and transport minister. The state government's good samaritan scheme offers a reward of Rs 2000 to those who save lives of road accident victims by shifting them to hospitals. The purpose of rewarding good samaritans is to encourage other citizens to come forward and help accident victims.
