A farmer in Balangir district in Odisha wrote a letter to the administration asking for permission to cultivate hemp. He claimed that his paddy harvest was still to be purchased in the mandi, leaving him distressed. He said that either his paddy should be sold soon or he be allowed to cultivate hemp on his land. If none of his demands are fulfilled, he will self-immolate in front of the collector's office.
