The minister for Hindu religious and charitable endowments in the state of Tamil Nadu, PK Sekar Babu, said that the consecration of the Perur Patteeswarar Temple will be held in a grand manner soon. The temple renovation and work on additional facilities for devotees will be carried out at a cost of 35 crore before the consecration. The minister was addressing the media after inspecting preparations for Mahashivratri celebrations at the Perur Temple. The state government has decided to celebrate Mahashivratri in five temples after the success of celebrations at the Kapaleeswarar Temple in Chennai last year. Preparations are on for grand celebrations at the Perur Temple in Coimbatore, the Big Temple in Thanjavur, and the Arunachaleswarar Temple in Thiruvannamalai. A threeacre area is being developed for devotees to congregate for Mahashivratri at the Perur Parking Facilities and other basic amenities will be provided for the devotees who participate in the celebrations.
