The city corporation removed 100 encroachments from a road in Ramanathapuram on Monday. A team led by an assistant town planning officer from the central zone cleared the encroachments with the help of police personnel. The team removed a couple of tea shops that were operating without permission, as well as sheds in front of stores that were in violation of city regulations. The encroachments were issued with notices a few days ago, and the majority of the encroachers vacated on their own. The team used earthmovers to finish the work. Encroachers on all busy roads will be taken to task, and residents are urged to stop constructing ramps that cause inconvenience to commuters.
