Fabrizio Romano provides update on Tottenham talks with Roma over Zaniolo
Fabrizio Romano has said that Tottenham Hotspur and AS Roma are still some way off from agreeing on a deal for Nicolo Zaniolo.
90 min reported on Monday that both Spurs and Roma were in broad agreement that a permanent deal for Zaniolo would be worth around €30m (£26.3m).
The report explained that the disagreement had to do with the structure of the deal, with the Giallorossi only open to loaning out the winger if it comes with an obligatory purchase option.
The publication stated that Spurs wanted the option to buy to only become obligatory if they finish in the top four.
However, this has now been contradicted by Romano, who has said on his YouTube channel that the Lilywhites have made it clear to Roma that they would only sign Zaniolo on loan if it is an option to buy rather than an obligation.
The journalist also added that Jose Mourinho’s men are not willing to budge from their demands of €35m-€40m (£30.7m-£35.1m) for the 23-year-old.

Zaniolo would only have 12 months to run on his contract in the summer, which means that Roma would not even be able to get £25m for him. So, it is in the Serie A club’s interest to push through a deal for the winger this window. I can see the negotiations between the two clubs potentially dragging on until the final day or two of the window.
