Create a great Burns Night even if cash is tight with three great deals
CELEBRATE Scotland’s most famous poet Robert Burns on his birthday today – without breaking the bank.
Burns Night calls for a hearty supper on January 25 — and you could even recite a few verses from his finest work.
Here, we bring you the best deals to create your very own Scottish feast at home.
OFFALLY GOOD VALUE: A traditional Burns Night dinner is not complete without haggis, neeps and tatties.
Macsween Haggis is on offer at £2, down from £2.90, at Sainsbury’s — or Tesco has Simon Howie Original Haggis at £2.25 for Clubcard customers, down from £2.75.
Grab a big bag of Maris Piper potatoes, £1.59 at both Tesco and Sainsbury’s, then boil and mash them with lots of milk and butter.

Head to Lidl and pick up top value Ben Bracken Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky for £16.99.
Tesco currently has some great savings on whisky for loyalty customers.
Sip on The Famous Grouse, down from £16.50 to £13 with Clubcard, or Black Bottle blended scotch whisky is now £15 from £18 with Clubcard.
Alternatively, Sainsbury’s Blended Scotch Whisky is a budget-friendly buy at £11.49.
Not in the mood for booze?
Pick up a 12-can pack of Irn-Bru — the fizzy pop hailed Scotland’s “other” national drink — for £4.50 at Iceland.
CRACKING PUD: Shortbread is a classic biscuit from Scotland — and Iceland sells a box of the fingers for £1.
Or round off your supper with traditional dessert Cranachan.
Raspberries are the star of this pud — pick up a frozen pack at Tesco for £2.40.
Crush the fruit through a sieve and add a little sugar to make a puree.
Whisk a carton of double cream then stir in a couple of tablespoons of honey, whisky and oats.
Alternate layers of raspberries with the puree and the cream before serving.
