A 40-year-old man was sentenced to 25 years in prison for raping a 9-year-old mentally challenged girl after kidnapping her from a village under Phulbani Sadar Police Station limits around four years ago. The court also fined the man Rs 25,000. The convict will undergo imprisonment for two more years if he fails to pay the fine. The court also directed the district legal services authorities to pay Rs 6 lakh to the girl as compensation.
