The director general of police in the state of Odisha, Sunil Bansal, has asked the police in the seven districts affected by the Maoist insurgency to be extra vigilant on Thursday during the state's Republic Day celebrations. Bansal said that they have put together a foolproof security plan for the day, and that the governor of the state, Ganeshi Lal, will hoist the national flag at Mahatma Gandhi Marg while the chief minister of the state, Naveen Patnaik, will attend as a guest of honor.
