This is a story about a man named Sathishkumar who was arrested in 2019 on charges of cheating investors of 150 crore. He ended his life by suicide at his residence in the city on Monday. Police identified the deceased as Sathishkumar of 5th cross Ramalinga Nagar near Saibaba Colony. Sathishkumar and his wife, S Gunavathi, started Dream Maker Global DM Private Limited at Saibaba Colony in 2017. "The company lured investors by promising higher returns through 12 different schemes for example one scheme promised to pay investors 100 for 150 days for an investment of 6000." Sathishkumar told investors that he invested the collected money in stock markets. Meanwhile, manojkumar 35 from Udayampalayam who gave the couple 68 lakh in 2018 lodged a complaint with city's economic offences wing police that the couple failed to return his money. Police registered a case against them under sections 406, 420 of IPC and section 5 of the Tamil Nadu Protection of Interest of Deposit Act. Preliminary inquiry revealed that the couple had collected a total of 300 crore from investors since 2017 and returned only around half of that money. They were arrested on September 28, 2019.
