The city corporation of Coimbatore has chosen two best performing councillors from each of the five zones to felicitate them during the Republic Day celebrations on Thursday. Dmk councillor and the zone chairman Ilakkumi izhamselvi ward 52 and Congress councillor G Naveenkumar ward 5 were selected from the East zone, Dmk councillors K Praveenraj ward 42 and K Selvaraj ward 72 were selected from the West zone, Dmk’s E Ahamed Kabir ward 86 and R Karthikeyan ward 100 were chosen from the North zone, Dmk councillors A Radhakrishnan ward 18 and S Saranya ward 30 were chosen from the South zone, Karthikeyan is also Dmk’s floor leader in the council, and Ilakkumi izhamselvi said she improved garbage segregation at source level in her ward “I reached out to school and college students to create sensitization on the issue now I am concentrating on tree planation the goodwill I earned among residents of my ward helped me get the award”.
