A Bangladeshi national with a valid Indian passport was exposed at the city airport on Monday when immigration officials asked him to sing the national anthem. The arrested was identified as G Anwar Hussain 28, a native of Balpur village in Mymensingh district in Bangladesh. Since he didn't land in Kolkata, immigration officials became suspicious and started questioning him. He gave contradictory answers, and also produced his birth certificate and Aadhaar card both issued by the government of India. Immigration officer M Krishnasree suddenly asked Hussain to sing the national anthem, unable to sing the same, Hussain admitted that he was a native of Bangladesh. The preliminary inquiry revealed that Hussain came to Avinashi in Tirupur district in 2018 and worked as a tailor with an apparel unit until November 2020. During this period, he visited Bengaluru and forged a birth certificate with the help of a few agents. Later, he obtained the Aadhaar card. In December 2020, he said Hussain secured the Indian passport from Kolkata by submitting the Aadhaar card and other forged documents. He then left for the United Arab Emirates where he worked as a tailor. He returned on Monday with a plan to settle down at Avinashi. The city airport authorities handed over Hussain to the Peelamedu police
